Number 15 on my 30 b4 Thirty was to “Make a quilt”. This year I planned to make at least one handmade gift for the girls for Christmas. So for Delilah I made a quilt. We went to my parent’s house for Thanksgiving. I try to have a least one project to complete when I go back home. I don’t own a sewing machine, so most of my projects there consist of sewing. Also, my mom knows her way around a sewing machine so I try to learn as much as I can from her while I’m there. I had never made a quilt so this was definitely a learning experience. I learned that making quilts is pretty darn hard and not something I think I want to delve into deeper. So this may be my first and last quilt. It’s not even your typical quilt. That’s why I thought it would be a good first quilt for me. I got the plans here.

I bought the fluffy batting. That’s probably the main reason this was so difficult. All the lines I stitched kept puckering. So I had to remove the stitches and start over. I use the term “I” very loosely in this post, my mother was a HUGE help throughout. I totally have respect for all the quilters out there.
One side pink, the other side yellow.

The edging is a paisley design.

As hard as this was, I LOVE the end result. I’ve shown much restraint from getting this out and wrapping Delilah up in it. But it’s for her Christmas present and I will hold strong. But can’t you just imagine how sweet she will look sleeping with this fluffy quilt?

That’s very pretty, Amy. I’m sure that it will be a favorite of Delilah’s, You feel about quilts about the way I do; THAT IS A LOT OF WORK!! And, congratulations on finishing another one of your “bucket list” items. Russ and I both wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas!
Thank you Phyllis! Merry Christmas to you and Russ as well!
She will look so sweet sleeping under this quilt! I still struggle with each quilt I make, just like the first one! The corners are my downfall!
Well, for not “knowing what you were doing…” You did a super great job. It’s very pretty. That’s one craft I’ve never tackled.
