A Grand Opening

28 Aug

This weekend we went to a grand opening of a store. It was mostly a redesign/merging of stores.  I’m not going to name names, cause they don’t pay me for advertising.  But they had characters at the store during the event. And if you have kids, they LOVE characters I’m sure.  At least if they are like my kids they do, until it’s picture time then they get all nervous.  But even as adults, there’s just something exciting about them.  Maybe it’s us adults that push kids to get the pictures with them that they don’t really want.  Oh well, they have to humor us sometimes.

Fun Shine Bear & Foofa!  Rory was the most excited to meet Foofa.
She’s from Yo Gabba Gabba for those who don’t know.

Iron Man.  Rory doesn’t ask for toys usually.  We’ve brainwashed her into thinking toys are just to be played with in the store, not bought.  But this time she wanted to buy an Iron Man toy.  But like most things, she soon forgot and moved on. We wanted to buy her a toy because she was so well behaved, so she got a $2 jump rope.  We were okay with that.

They had a dance party.  Rory wasn’t shy to jump in and dance.  She’s our little dancing fool. And that yellow thing is Wubzy.

Not a bad way to spend 2 hours on a Saturday morning.  Delilah got a Jessie doll from Toy Story.  She doesn’t get excited about most things, but she did the Jessie doll.  Maybe because her cool older cousin likes Jessie.

The morning events ended with a “ride” in the mechanical toys, but without paying to ride in them.  They still don’t know they move.  Let’s keep it that way.

Edit:  Okay-okay, it was Toys R Us/Babies R Us.
