Delilah’s Colorful First Birthday Party

21 Nov

This weekend we celebrated Delilah turning one.  We went with the  rainbow theme.

I arranged the food in the color spectrum.

We had lots of friends and family show up.

Opening her presents with lots of help from the cousins.

We forgot to buy a “1” candle.  As we frantically searched for something, we found a 7.  Close enough.  We didn’t even have a generic tiny candle.  So it was either this or nothing.  And you’ve GOT to have a candle on your first birthday cake.

We cut into it and to the surprise of everyone it was rainbow layers! I’ve been wanting to try this cake out for the longest time and pretty much planned the party around this cake.  You can find tutorials and videos of the process here.

It’s pretty cool how her sweater matched the cake.  I would love to say I did that because I’m just that good, but it was mostly coincidental.
