Last week Rory looked out our living room window and saw a dog wandering the neighborhood. She went outside and called it to her. Then she let it in the house. He was old and tired and in need of a drink of water. He was obviously lost so we put him in our backyard. I found the phone number on his tag and proceeded to call his owners. They didn’t answer. Rory told me the owners were on vacation and we should probably keep the dog for 3 days. She begged me not to bother calling the owners again. Long story short, a few hours later the owners saw the dog in the backyard and came to claim him.
I realized the girls were ready for a dog.
For the past year we had decided that we were open to getting a dog. But we weren’t going to rush into it. We would only get a dog when we were sure it would be perfect for our family. So we’ve been going to the Human Society about once a month. And now that the weather is finally cooling down we thought it would work out perfectly. We had our eyes on a dog that we saw on their website. So we went to visit him. Then the next day I took Rory, Delilah and my mother-in-law to go meet him.
And then we brought him home. He’s transitioned in to our family seamlessly.
Rory named him Rudy. We love this little guy!
