Colorado Family Vacay

8 Jul

Last week we went to Colorado for our family vacation.  We spent the first night in Denver after going to the Denver Museum of Science and Nature.  Then we headed to Estes Park where we spent the next two nights.  The trip was bookend with stays at my parents farm, it’s halfway to Colorado for us and it cuts back on the long drives.

First off, the museum was awesome for kids.  My favorite part was the experiment station.  Our experiment was a simulation of DNA extraction.  We went for the dinosaurs, but there was so much more.  We spent a few hours here and could have spent more.  And the price was great.

Estes Park was a adorable little mountain town.

We went on a trail ride up in the mountains.

We drove up a mountain in Roosevelt National Forest.

We came down the other side of the mountain and realized we were very close to Winter Park Resort.  So we went there.  They have lots of summer activities for kids.  Our favorite was the Alpine Slide.

The zipline was a hit for Rory.  Delilah was a little worried she was going to fall.  She looked so tiny hanging there.

Rory turned 6 while we were there.  She loved having her birthday on our vacation.

You know you and your family are welcome to come explore Oregon! Lot’s to do here as well. Great rates on the bed & breakfast!

Amy, what beautiful vacation pictures. It is obvious that you all had such a wonderful time. I love the lab coats and plastic glasses on the girls. What a great idea for a museum to have. I love all the pictures, but my favorite of Joey is in the mountains, with Delilah on his back. He looks so happy, and I know he is. Good job.
